My First Born Angel

God sent me an angel from above
To fill my life with wonder and love
Her eyes were bright, her smile was amazing
I found myself for hours, at her face gazing
The best mother to her was what I strived to be
For her to be happy was what I prayed to see
I hope her life is as she desired
Her free spirit and strong will are to be admired
Every minute of every day, she is in my heart
We are connected, even when we're apart
From the Heavens, my daughter is a gift
My spirits, her voice can always lift
Thank you, God, for letting me be
The mother of such transcendency

For My Daughter

Quotes from "Seize the Night" by Dean Koontz...

"He was mad with hope. In reasonable measure, hope sustains us. In great excess, it distorts perceptions, dulls the mind, corrupts the heart to no less an extent than does heroin. I don't believe I've misunderstood Manuel all these years. High on hope, he has forgotten what he loved and, instead, loves the ideal more than the reality, which is the cause of all the misery that the human species creates for itself."

"God must have meant for us to laugh through our pain, because He stirred an enormous measure of absurdity into the universe when He mixed the batter of creation. I'll admit to being hopeless in many respects, but as long as I have laughter, I'm not without hope."

"Events at Wyvern have taught us many lessons, and one of them, for sure, is that while science can improve the lot of humankind, it doesn't hold all the answers we need: Life has dimensions that can't be mapped by biologists, physicists, and mathematicians."

1979?

Email From My Mother January 2004

Dear Susan,

Yes, we'll pray diligently for you, all of you.
Try harder to get more sleep.
Listen to some of your favorite music.
Lean on the Lord: he is kind and loves you.
While the dishwasher is running, put dinner in the oven.
Sit down then, and read the mail.
Soak your feet; tell everyone that you are resting.
Listen to God's voice; he will tell you something while you are soaking your feet.

Thinking of you with Deep Love

(good advise for us all, I believe)....thanks Mom :)

The beginning

Dear Mom,

So, this is my first entry. My family says I should write, so hopefully this will be a good start for me. A couple of funnies: Youngest daughter says, "Hey Mom, Fishie has another really long poop string!"...there is always excitement in this household. Also, my husband said to me last night, "When I was growing up, only rich people had garbage cans with wheels". My oldest daughter told me today during our IM session that I taught her about how to love people, sisterhood, Jesus, and hope. Wow.

I love you, Mom.
